Our Garden 2015

Pink Astilbe Shade Garden

I have started a shade garden this year in the back.

Hey guys! I wanted to post the latest on our garden from this year. Some of the new plants include this pink astilbe, and a white one. For some reason I didn’t get a picture of the white one. I started a shade garden in the back by the fence, which is the only shady area in our garden. I also added Creeping Jenny and Anemone Sylvestris. It didn’t bloom this year, hopefully next year!

Red Dinner Plate Dahlia Perennial.

Red Dinner Plate Dahlia.

I also planted Dahlias! This red one and a yellow one that has been growing in a pot. I am thinking of transplanting it into the ground as soon as I do some gardening chores and clear a nice spot for it where it is hopelessly overgrown. They seem to be happy, and they really make me happy with their nice big blooms.

Growing White Eggplant

I thought this white eggplant would be different. It really reminds me of an egg!

This White Eggplant has been a fun addition to the vegetable garden this summer. Now I know where it got it’s name! I bet if I did a little digging (hehe) I would find out this variety of eggplant might be the original and where the plant got it’s name? Just a guess, I haven’t researched it. Please comment if you know. I want to find a recipe to showcase the fact that it is white when this beauty is ready.

Growing Green Tomatillos

All the Tomatillos came right back up from last years plants.

I am really looking forward to making some Salsa Verde with the Tomatillos that volunteered from last years plants. They are prolific!

Growing Green Tomatillos

I used tomato cages to help them grow.

The Tomatillos have been pretty much effortless to grow. They came up from seeds from last years plants and all I did was thin them out and put a couple tomato cages on them. They like it hot and sunny and I make sure they get plenty of water in the harsh Colorado sun.

Late summer garden

Here is the front garden in late summer.

Here are a few other shots of the front garden this year. All of the marigolds you see here came up from seed from last years plants as well.

Kwan Yin in the Garden. Chocolate Nigella Flowers

I love to see the garden evolve over the years.

This part of our garden with the Kwan Yin statue and the Buddha, has naturally evolved over the years. Whatever plants have seeded and some perennials help it to be just a little different every year. We got a really good show from the Chocolate Nigella this year.

Yellow Asiatic Lily

The Yellow Asiatic Lily was stunning!

My plan for next year is to divide these Yellow Asiatic Lilies to have more of them! They are show stoppers for sure and the butterflies love them.

Here is a close up of the Lilies.

I would love to have more of these lilies in different colors in the garden. Maybe a pink one? The foliage is really interesting to look at too when the blooms fade.

Midsummer Garden

Here is a shot of the garden at midsummer. It is so fun to watch it grow.

You can see the deck here. Still working on the make over that I plan on doing this summer with the decor on it. I will most likely be hitting the summer clearance sales to get some of the items I want. To be continued…

I will make sure to post again so you can see all of the plants that bloom early fall. We planted giant pumpkins this year. Looks like for some reason we are only getting one. Till then…
