Nesting Inspiration

Here are a few beautiful bohemian style interiors that I find very inspiring as I begin the process room by room of designing our space. Some of the aspects of the Bohemian style that most attract me is the sensuality and romance that exudes from it.  In typical fashion for me, have several projects going at once, as inspiration strikes, I act upon it.

Yule Light Up My Life!

After receiving a very generous gift from our neighboors, i got inspired to go all out with Christmas lights. Candy cane lights, Ice-scicle lights, garland and rope are just a few types of lights we were given. So what did i do after getting these lights? i went to there house to get some ideas.

This is our neighbors’s , Jamie and Lloyds, house. Isn’t it lovely?

So After looking at there lights i adapted a few of their ideas. For example, putting rope lines around the perimeter of the yard and lining the windows. So keep in mind  that this is the first year putting up Christmas lights so i’m not a pro! (read more)

Beer Glazed Sausage, Apples, Cabbage and Green Beans

With fall in the air and the new October issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine to peruse,  inspiration was struck. The Cooking with Beer feature was just the thing to help use up some of the last cold hearty veggies from the garden, and of course enjoy some of my favorite beer. I did of course take some liberties with the recipe, omitting the crushed red pepper (didn’t have any) and adding more veggies (had a ton of those) . I think the results were both pretty on the plate and lovely for the palate as well. The kids thought I was crazy cooking with beer, but they actually enjoyed this dish quite a bit. (read more)

Caprese Chicken with Herbed Zucchini Bake

Twist on the traditional caprese salad

This chicken dish gets a fresh spin with the use of yellow tomatoes. We used fresh basil leaves and mozzarella cheese to complete the caprese chicken. Caprese is from the Campania region of Italy and is usually served as an antipasto with the addition of the fresh mozzarella. This simple week night dish really impressed the girls.  We accompanied the dish with a baked herbed zucchini side. This dish could easily be made vegetarian with substituting the chicken for portobello mushrooms. Gonna have to try it that way! (read more)

Perfect Fall Day

     

To me a perfect fall day includes many things. On a perfect fall day, I would be curled up in a blanket looking at the colorful leaves of fall and the Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations. In my hand there would be a sweet mug of cinnamon apple cider.  The air would smell like fresh baked pumpkin pie. My thick warm blanket would shield me from the cold bitter wind. In my opinion that would be the perfect fall day.

Mmm…Cake

Coda’s birthday cake. We had a midsummer’s nights dream fairy party.

We made this lemon and mixed berry cake for Coda’s birthday party from an inspiration from a pintrest pin that caught our eye. This cake was not make from scratch, but we did put some of our fresh strawberries and raspberries on it.
