Party Decor~Bohemian Tea Party

The bohemian tea party turned out to be timed just right for Makayla’s birthday. We had a few friends over, all bringing something to contribute to the spread and enjoyed a fun, bohemian themed gathering. The food was an eclectic mix of world flavors, the color scheme was a bright saturated jewel toned rainbow. We took inspiration from Morocco, India, England and Turkey.

Bright Bold Bohemian Tea Party Decor

We went with a mix of bright colors and world flavors for our tea party.

Heirloom Tea Set

Rosie brought her tea set passed down from her grandmother.

We had traditional English tea cups and saucers as well as Moroccan tea cups. We ended up using the Moroccan tea cups for our bubbly cocktails instead! I did attempt to make the traditional Moroccan tea, but it came out way to strong. I will work on perfecting that recipe and technique to share with you here on the blog.

I did incorporate lots of colorful flowers into the decor as well. Everything was blooming and we had much to choose from. Honeysuckle, cherry blossoms, roses, and a mixed bouquet that Rosie brought.

Cherry Blossom Bouquet

There was an abundance of blooming trees to take cuttings from. The kids gathered this bouquet.

Rosie made a beautiful cake for Makayla and used even more flowers to decorate the cake with too. The flowers then got recycled into a bowl for display. The cake was served with several choices of sorbet and gelato flavors.

The cake turned out beautiful! Rosie is a fantastic baker and cake maker.

The bouquets and cake flowers went a long way. I was able to trim them a week later and make different floral displays.

Floral arrangement

The flowers from the cake lasted over a week in this bowl of water

Simple bohemian floral displays

Simple flowers in bold bohemian colors really added to the theme of our party.

I found inexpensive colored glass and used other glass jars I already had for flower vases and candle holders. I was also able to find the lime green and fuchsia cloth napkins which we used as a table cloth. Mix and match styles, patterns and add in bold color to get a bohemian look. Nothing too formal. Enjoy the planning and treasure hunt involved in gathering all of the party decor and serving pieces.

Simple, elegant Gerber Daisy

Simple and elegant. Floral arrangements do not have to be fussy to make a big impact.

I also put together a special playlist for the evening full of music that was perfect for the mood of the party. A mix of world music, unexpected covers of songs done in a different way, and good old tunes to bring back memories too. Here is a link to it if you would like to give it a listen.
